Tooth Colored Fillings
Dental fillings are used to restore teeth that have been damaged by mild to moderate decay.
The dentist will determine through an oral exam and X-ray if you have any dental decay and whether dental fillings are the proper treatment to restore the tooth.
Composite fillings are tooth-colored restorations that are matched to the precise shade of your own natural tooth enamel. This creates a more aesthetic appearance when restoring areas of dental decay, so that your smile appears natural. Tooth colored fillings require minimal tooth preparation and bond to the teeth in areas where traditional metal fillings cannot. After the decayed tooth enamel has been removed, the composite material is placed in the area to reshape the tooth, and then bonded into place. Tooth colored fillings are less invasive than metal fillings and can be used to replace amalgam fillings for aesthetic purposes if the patient desires.
